We are so happy you are here!
You have found a community that's all about love. For nearly 75 years St. David's has been a place of connection, where people gather and grow in loving community. We learn about who we are, why we're here, and get food for the journey in loving rituals and meaningful traditions.
We activate our love as we serve others, with our food pantry, homeless and Haiti outreaches. And we speak up for our community. Our work with firearm safety has garnered national attention in the New York Times and The Daily Show.
No matter where you are – searcher, churchgoer, or just a person trying to figure out life. St. David’s is a place to discover anew, or for the first time, God’s boundless love.

We live in disconnecting times. Our politics, technologies, and differences are supposed to fuel curiosity, educate, and inform us. But in too many places, they divide, enrage, and separate us. Places like St. David's, which are rooted in love, respect, and concern for others are crucial to maintaining healthy lives and communities.

We have immeasurable love in our hearts. We know we're blessed. And that gratitude finds its outlet in worship. We gather in community to follow an ancient cadence of song and ceremony, using words and rituals that have nourished and enriched people through the ages. Gratitude improves our lives - and our communities.

Learning
Who are we and why are we here? Life is a journey of enlightenment and awareness. Together we learn from our ancient texts, lived experiences, and innate intelligence. We strive to heed that spiritual voice within us and around us. It helps us grow and guide in our quest to make love the animating force in our lives.

Service
Jesus showed us that the best life is the life we give away. Love cannot be contained and spills out into service. We are committed to outreach activities that revolve around hunger, homelessness, Haiti, and handguns, providing numerous volunteer opportunities for our members and the greater community: to serve is to thrive.
We are having a free sale here at St. David's and are currently collecting donations. You are welcome to drop them off at the church! Call the office with any questions.

The DOK are making Easter baskets for the Oakland County Foster closet, and if anyone would like to help donate, we are in need of jump ropes, sidewalk chalk, and plastic eggs filled with candy. coloring books, crayons, and small stuffed animals. The supplies can dropped off at the church. Contact Traci Johnson with any questions.
This March, we are collecting full-size and travel-size health and beauty items for our food pantry guests. Donations of: shampoo, body wash, soap, toothpastes, toothbrushes, hair brushes, deodorant, conditioner, mouthwash, and other items can be put in the collection box in the atrium.

I'm absolutely thrilled to welcome Dr. Bernie Les to our Living Loved gathering tonight, Thursday, October 23 at 7pm to speak with us on the timely topic of self-forgiveness. All are welcome, it's a one-hour drop-in meeting open to the public.
His resume is below and you're going to love it!
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Les is an Adjunct Faculty Member at Wayne State University and Schoolcraft College, teaching Educational, General, and Abnormal Psychology. Dr. Les has earned his M.A. and Ph.D. from Wayne State University with an emphasis in the areas of Clinical, Developmental and Educational Psychology. There, he has done research in the areas of family dynamics, positive thinking styles, and how these relate to confidence in children, adolescents and adults. His background includes work in in-patient psychiatric, and educational settings. He has done consulting for mental health agencies and school districts in and out of state and has done several workshops for businesses, mental health and educational settings.

Community members are invited to join us Sunday, February 23, at 11:30am to hear actor Daya Curley speak on what it means to be transgender in today’s world.
Daya Curley was born and raised in the Detroit area before relocating to California for more than 30 years. She returned to Metro Detroit in 2021 with her husband, Mark. Daya is a professional performer, a part-time web designer, wife, daughter, and a previous Guinness World Record holder. “Too many people in our society have never met a transgender person,” said The Very Rev. Chris Yaw, rector of St. David’s, “And Daya’s story and observations are critical for us to more fully obey Jesus Christ who commanded us to love our neighbors.”
As a transgender person living in the current political climate, Days values her importance as an educator. “My goal is to be present and available,” says Daya, “to embrace my role as a “trans elder”, and live as an example of a trans person who is happy and thriving.”
Daya will be speaking about her experience as an actor and spouse. She will also host a question and answer period following her presentation.
Daya’s appearance is part of St. David’s regular ‘Connection Hour’ in which voices from a wide range of experiences make presentations and are available for conversations. For more information on these forums, visit the St. David’s website.

Are you in need of food assistance? Stop in our community food pantry open from 9am until noon every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Our offerings change regularly, and depend on donations and pantry stock levels. However we often have fresh bread, bagels, fresh produce, canned goods, vegetarian options, along with a variety of other items. We request you limit your visits to the pantry to once a week. No need to make an appointment.

The service, music and company are worth attending, but after service this year we are adding to the thrill by hosting chocolate potluck! As always our doors are open to the community and all those with desire to attend!

Good Friday is a day of great gratitude, and St. David’s Episcopal Church is giving away crosses and offering prayer to all who come. It is the day Christians mark Jesus’ crucifixion so from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, robed ministers will pray and distribute free crosses to all who drive up to the south entrance of the church located on Twelve Mile Road.
The Olive wood crosses that will be distributed are from Jerusalem and can be worn as necklaces.
The driveway is parallel to Twelve Mile Road. Motorists may easily enter the driveway from the side closest to the sign for St. Anne’s Mead Assisted Living and Nursing Care. Then they can travel westbound a short distance down the driveway until the reach the station for ashes by the front doors of the church. Motorists may stay in their cars while they receive their blessing. Afterward, they may quickly exit the driveway and continue their journey down Twelve Mile Road.
