The goal of Music Ministry here at St. David’s is to enable all persons to experience the presence of God through congregational singing, the inspiration of choral and instrumental music, and holding musical events.
Those who actively participate in the choral, instrumental, and hand bell ensembles will find that music ministry also provides opportunities for spiritual growth, Christian fellowship, and the development of musical skills.
Membership is open to all who are willing to invest their time and talents in this ministry. Please contact our Choirmaster, George, at 248-557-5430, or at george@stdavidssf.org, if you are interested in any of the ministries below.
The music programs take a break during the summer months.
Adult Programs:
The Chancel Choir (open to all those in high school and up) rehearses on Wednesdays from 7-8:30 pm and sings the Choral Eucharist each Sunday and all feast days.
The Handbell Choir (open to all those in high school and up) rehearses on Wednesdays from 6:00 to 6:45 pm and plays for one Sunday service per month.
Children/Youth Programs:
The music program for children/youth is on hold temporarily.
Other Musical Opportunities:
The Gospel Choir (open to all those in high school and up) is an ad hoc group that provides music for occasional Sunday services and participates on many feast days.
The Taizé / Evensong Choir is an ad hoc group that provides music for our evening prayer services. Upcoming services will be announced in parish publications and on our web calendar.
Cantors and Vocal Soloists perform specific liturgical pieces, including introits, antiphons, sacred solo works, and the plainchant Passion Gospel, which has become a Holy Week tradition.
Instrumentalists are always warmly welcomed and can be included in our worship.
Music Volunteers are invited to assist the Organist and Choirmaster with Children’s Choir rehearsals and organizational tasks.
