Kid Programs... Education
Our education program serves the needs of all ages with programs and events that emphasize the importance of ongoing Christian formation.
The church school serves pre-school through senior high students.
This year, for the first time, all students will go briefly into the church with their parents for the beginning of the service.
After church school, all students will then return to church at the Peace in preparation for the Eucharist.
Godly Play (4 years old thru 1st grade): Every Sunday morning during the 10:00 AM service teams of experienced parishioners lead the children through this acclaimed worship program designed for young children.
Elementary School (2nd grade & 3-5th grades): Students in the 2nd - 5th grades will come from church to the chapel where we have a short opening gathering and then disperse to two classes - an early elementary class of 2nd graders and a later elementary class of 3-5th grades.
They will be involved in an exciting new program called Spark Activate Faith Rotation. Students will stay on the same Biblical story for three to four weeks. Each week will be a new activity involving one of several possible workshops (Art, Bible Skills and Games, Cooking, Creative Drama, Music, Science, and Video) all focusing on the Bible story in a different way. In this way, we hope to make the time in Church School both fresh and engaging.
Middle School: The middle school grades 6-8 will exit directly to their classroom from church. They will be doing a combination of lessons from the Journey to Adulthood Curriculum known as Rite-13 and a new curriculum entitled Faithweaver Now from Group Publishing.
High School (9th-12th grades): We will be piloting a new approach this year having youth meet together once a month after the service for a planned activity with an adult mentor. There are many opportunities for youth of this age to engage themselves in the service of the church such as being acolytes, Lay Eucharistic Ministers, helpers, or leaders in our new rotation program, singing in the choir, and various other ministries.
Anyone interested in assisting with this program as a teacher or a resource person should contact the director or the Church Office.
